2023 Honda Civic recalls (Canada)

Issue: This recall is for certain aluminum wheels that were installed before delivery or sold as a dealer accessory. On certain vehicles, the wheels may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the wheel nut(s) could loosen and cause the wheel(s) to detach. Safety Risk: A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a wheel that separates could create a road hazard for others. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the hub(s), wheel(s) and wheel nut(s).

Issue: On a small number of vehicles, the bolts that attach the driver's seat cushion frame may not have been properly tightened. As a result, the bolts could loosen, and the seat could move or detach in a crash. Safety Risk: A seat that moves or detaches could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Action: Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the driver's seat cushion frame.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the steering gearbox may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, there could be a sudden change in steering feel and an increase in steering effort. Safety Risk: A sudden change in steering effort could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to add grease to the steering gearbox and replace the electronic power steering spring.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the incorrect steering gear box assembly may have been installed during a repair. As a result, the tires could become damaged by contact with the chassis and fail. Safety Risk: A tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering gear box assembly. The dealer will also inspect the tires for damage and replace them, as necessary.

Issue: Under certain conditions when the vehicle is in "auto-brake hold" mode, a problem with the vehicle stability assist (VSA) modulator may cause the vehicle to move unexpectedly. Safety Risk: A vehicle that moves unexpectedly could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the VSA modulator.

Issue: On certain Civic Type-R models, the driver's seat frame may not have been properly welded. As a result, the seat frame could break in a crash. Safety Risk: A seat frame that breaks in a crash could create an increased risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the driver's seat cushion frame.
