2021 Nissan Rogue recalls (Canada)

Issue: On certain vehicles, the engine may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the engine could make abnormal noises and a warning light may turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with these symptoms, the engine could fail. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with 1.5 L or 2.0 L variable compression engines. Safety Risk: An engine failure could cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels and/or increase the risk of a vehicle fire. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash or injury. Corrective actions: The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine. On certain vehicles, the dealer will also update the engine control module.

Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the in-vehicle infotainment system to continuously reboot. If this happens, the rearview camera image will not appear on the display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail and ask you to make an appointment with your local dealer to update the in-vehicle infotainment system software. For vehicles with over-the-air (OTA) update capability, Nissan will send a wireless over-the-air software update to each vehicle.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the left- and right-rear seat belts may not retract to their storage position. Canadian regulations require seat belts to retract fully when not in use. Safety Risk: A seat belt that doesn't retract properly could be difficult to use. Not wearing a seat belt can increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the left- and right-rear seat belts. They will be replaced, if necessary.

Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the in-vehicle infotainment system to reset. If you shift to reverse while the computer is resetting, the rearview camera image will not appear on the display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles sold to rental fleets. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail and ask you to make an appointment with your local dealer to update the in-vehicle infotainment system software. Issue: On certain vehicles, the automatic headlamps may not turn on soon enough as it gets dark. Canadian regulations require automatic headlamps to turn on when the ambient light level drops below a certain point (1000 lux). Safety Risk: Headlamps that don't turn on as it gets dark could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to reprogram the body control module (BCM).

Issue: On certain vehicles, the fuel pump could fail. If this happens, the engine may run rough or may not start and the check engine light may turn on. This could also result in a sudden loss of engine power while driving. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power while driving could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the fuel pump.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the upper tether anchorages for child seats may not be properly welded to the second-row seatback. As a result, the child seat tether strap could detach in a crash. Safety Risk: A child seat that is not properly secured could increase the risk of injury in a crash or a sudden stop. Corrective Action: Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the welds for the child seat tether anchorages on the second-row seats. If the anchorages are not properly welded, the seatbacks will be replaced.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear brake calipers may not have been assembled correctly. As a result, brake fluid could leak from the rear calipers. This can cause reduced brake performance. A brake fluid leak could also cause a short circuit in the automatic parking brake system. This can cause a brake warning light to turn on in the dash. Safety Risk: Reduced brake performance can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect and replace the rear brake calipers, as necessary.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the fuel tank sending unit lock ring and fuel line may not be installed correctly. As a result, the fuel line could disconnect from the sending unit and leak fuel. If this happens while driving, the engine could stall suddenly. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. A sudden loss of engine power while driving could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect and re-install the fuel line and lock ring on the fuel tank sending unit, if necessary.
