2022 Kia Telluride recalls (Canada)

Issue: On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Kia dealer during service campaign RC207 (Transport Canada recall number 2024-323) may not have been done correctly and/or may not be effective. As a result, another repair is required. Under certain conditions, the switch for the driver- and/or passenger-front power seat motor(s) could become stuck and cause the seat motor(s) not to stop. If this happens, the motor(s) could overheat. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-323. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: A seat motor that overheats can create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Corrective actions: To reduce the safety risk, Kia advises that you should park your vehicle outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed. Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install an electronic fuse for the power seats.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the compliance label may be missing information in French. The words listed on the label for "Tires", "Rims", "Front" and "Rear" appear in English only, when they should be listed as "Tires/Pneus", "Rims/Jantes", "Front/Avant" and "Rear/Arriere". Canadian regulations require this information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Safety Risk: These small errors do not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. Kia has corrected the compliance label for all new vehicles.

Issue: Under certain conditions, the switch for the driver- and/or passenger-front power seat motor(s) could become stuck and cause the seat motor(s) not to stop. Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install a bracket for the power seat switch cover(s). The dealer will also replace the seat adjustment knob(s).

Issue: On certain vehicles, the axle shaft(s) may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the axle shaft(s) splines could become damaged. If this happens, the vehicle could move when it's parked and the parking brake isn't applied. Safety Risk: A parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the electronic parking brake software. To reduce the safety risk, Kia recommends that you should always use the parking brake when you park.

Issue: Certain vehicles may be equipped with a 4-pin accessory trailer wiring harness kit that could fail. Over time, this could result in a short circuit that can cause the control module to overheat. Note: This recall only affects Kia Genuine 4-pin tow hitch wiring harness kits with the part number S9F67AC000. These kits may have been ordered at the time of a vehicle purchase, or purchased separately from a dealer as an aftermarket accessory. Safety Risk: A short circuit could create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Corrective Actions: Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to inspect if your vehicle has a trailer wiring harness installed. If it does, Kia advises that you should park your vehicle outdoors, and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed. The corrective actions for this recall are under development. As an interim repair, Kia will advise you to make an appointment at your local dealership to replace the 30 A "TRAILER" fuse with a 15 A fuse.

Issue: One vehicle was equipped with the wrong spare tire. As a result, the antilock brake system (ABS) and/or traction control system (TCS) may not work properly. Safety Risk: An antilock brake system and/or traction control system that does not work properly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Kia will notify the owner by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealership to replace the spare tire with one of the correct size.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the LCD screen in the instrument cluster could remain blank when the vehicle is started. If this happens, you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the odometer, warnings, and malfunction tell-tale graphics. Note: The dedicated telltale/warning lamps for vehicle systems will continue to work. Safety Risk: Warnings and malfunction tell-tale information that does not display could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the instrument cluster assembly.

Issue: On certain vehicles, there may be a problem with an internal electrical connection for the LCD screen in the instrument cluster. As a result, the screen may not work, and you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the odometer, warnings, and malfunction tell-tale graphics. Note: The dedicated telltale/warning lamps for vehicle systems will continue to work. Safety Risk: Warnings and malfunction tell-tale information that does not display could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the instrument cluster assembly.
