Hyundai Reveals the Next Tucson in Paju
Fifth-generation Tucson, first full redesign since 2020. Bigger, boxier, 1.6 turbo gas or hybrid. Korea sales in October. U.S. sticker and EPA figures are still coming.
PAJU — Hyundai showed the next Tucson on Friday at the CJ ENM Studio Center in Paju, north of Seoul. It is the fifth generation, and the first full redesign since 2020.
The compact SUV grew and squared off. Official Korean specs put overall length at 4,700 millimeters, about 2.4 inches more than the outgoing model.
Width is up 40 millimeters. Wheelbase is up 30, to 2,785 millimeters. Rear-seat headroom grows 29 millimeters.
The rear doors now open to 83 degrees, from 73. That is the change you notice when you are loading a child seat.
Korea gets two powertrains. A 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine makes 193 metric horsepower, up 13 from the outgoing engine, and pairs with an eight-speed automatic, replacing the old seven-speed dual-clutch.
A 1.6 turbo hybrid is rated at 245 metric horsepower and 17.4 kilometers per liter on Korea's test cycle. That is not an EPA number, even with the drag coefficient down from 0.33 to 0.30.
The hybrid also gets Stay Mode, which keeps climate and the screen running with the engine off while parked.
Hyundai will publish Korean prices in October and start domestic sales the same month. A wider rollout is supposed to follow. No U.S. sticker, EPA ratings, or on-sale month yet.
Treat 2027 as the likely shop year. Hyundai has not locked a U.S. model-year badge. What you can buy this fall is still the current Tucson.
An XRT trim adds a tougher grille, cladding, skid plates, and its own wheels.

The nameplate passed 10 million global sales in 2025, Hyundai's first SUV to do it, nearly two million of them in the United States.
