Honda Ends the Prologue After 2026, Leaving Its U.S. EV Lineup Empty
Honda will conclude Prologue sales after the 2026 model year while continuing dealer service, parts, and warranty support. The exit closes Honda's short GM-platform bridge and leaves the brand without a battery-electric vehicle in U.S. showrooms.

Honda is ending the Prologue after the 2026 model year, closing the only battery-electric chapter currently open in its U.S. showroom.
The company confirmed that sales will conclude later this year after model-year production finishes. Honda also says current owners will continue receiving dealer support, replacement parts, and warranty coverage. Inventory could last longer than the production calendar, but Honda has not published a final sell-through date.
Calling the Prologue a simple sales failure would miss most of the story. Honda sold more than 33,000 in 2024 and nearly 40,000 in 2025. It found buyers partly because it offered a familiar Honda badge on a practical electric crossover, even though General Motors supplied the underlying EV architecture and built it in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.
The slowdown arrived quickly. Reported first-half 2026 sales fell to 8,407, roughly half the prior-year pace. The federal new-vehicle EV credit also stopped applying to vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. That timing does not prove the credit alone caused the decline, but losing as much as $7,500 changed the lease and purchase equation overnight.
The Prologue began as a bridge. Honda designed the body and cabin while GM supplied its platform, battery technology, and factory capacity. Acura's related ZDX ended after the 2024 model year. Once remaining Prologues sell, neither Honda nor Acura will have a battery-electric model in U.S. production.
Honda's replacement strategy now leans hard toward hybrids. The automaker canceled three planned U.S.-built EVs in March, including the Honda 0 SUV and Saloon and the Acura RSX. In May, it said 15 next-generation hybrid models would launch globally by the fiscal year ending March 2030, with North America as the main focus. The first of those hybrids is expected in 2027.
For current owners, the practical concern is support rather than corporate symbolism. Honda's statement covers service, parts, and existing warranties. Prologue owners also retain access to selected Tesla Superchargers through Honda's approved NACS-to-CCS adapter. What Honda has not promised is indefinite connected-service pricing, a particular resale value, or parts availability beyond normal legal and warranty obligations.
A closeout Prologue could still make sense at the right price. It carries up to a 308-mile EPA range rating in 2026 two-wheel-drive form, and a discontinued badge does not erase a usable battery or nearby Honda dealer. Buyers should compare the discount against insurance, charging, software support, and expected depreciation. Our used EV guide and hybrid versus EV calculator can make that comparison less emotional.
Certified used shoppers have another path. HondaTrue Certified EV currently includes the Prologue, with program terms that include high-voltage battery coverage. Verify the exact warranty start date and remaining coverage by VIN rather than assuming every used example receives the same clock.
Honda said in 2025 that trust in the brand was the leading reason Prologue buyers gave for choosing it. That detail matters for Asian American households and other longtime Honda families that treated the model as a lower-risk first EV. The hardware came from a partnership, but the decision often rested on the dealer relationship and badge already familiar from a Civic, Accord, or CR-V.
Canada follows the same product exit, with Honda Canada also committing to continued service, parts, and warranty support. Prologue availability there was already limited to selected dealers in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec.
The next number to watch is not another Prologue sales month. It is how long Honda leaves the battery-electric space empty, and whether its coming hybrids give loyal buyers enough efficiency to stop waiting.
