ChargePoint Is Live Inside GM Energy Pass. One Less App on the Road Trip
Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac EV apps can now find, start, and pay at ChargePoint — unlocking roughly 60% of U.S. public Level 2 chargers in Energy Pass, with Plug & Charge at many stalls and a path toward about 70% of DC fast chargers.

DETROIT — In June, GM promised Energy Pass would shrink the charging-app circus. In July, ChargePoint actually showed up inside myChevrolet, myGMC, and myCadillac.
General Motors says the ChargePoint integration is complete. Drivers can find, start, and pay for both DC fast and Level 2 sessions on ChargePoint’s network without opening a second account. Many of those stalls also support Plug & Charge, so compatible vehicles can authenticate when the connector clicks home.
The Level 2 number is the household one. GM says ChargePoint alone puts roughly 60 percent of U.S. public Level 2 chargers into Energy Pass. Destination charging at workplaces, garages, and retail lots is where condo and apartment drivers live between road trips. Fast-charging deserts still matter, but so does the stall next to the office elevator that used to demand yet another QR code.
On the highway side, GM still frames Energy Pass — with ChargePoint and other planned network integrations — as heading toward about 70 percent of U.S. DC fast chargers. That is a coverage target, not a guarantee that every stall will be online when you arrive tired in Redding or Winter Park. Treat it as planning confidence, then verify the pin the week you drive.
Hardware is the quieter half of the announcement. GM and ChargePoint have spent more than a year planting sites in thin markets: Sleeping Bear Dunes country in Michigan, sixteen stalls near Redding’s Sundial Bridge, Winter Park near Orlando’s parks, and a string of upstate New York scenic stops. Many use Omniport hardware so NACS and CCS1 can share a stall — the unglamorous detail that keeps adapter arguments out of the back seat.
This is a software sequel to our June Energy Pass launch note. Launch day listed ChargePoint as coming soon. Summer delivered it. Asian American and Asian Canadian GM households that already juggle Tesla Superchargers, Electrify America, and building ChargePoint accounts can delete one mental tab — if the session receipts stay clean.
Energy Pass still does not invent a deeded Level 2 stall in Flushing or a strata parking plan in Richmond. Pair the app win with our road trip charging networks guide, public charging etiquette, and the public vs home charging calculator. If your Lyriq or Equinox EV already lives on workplace ChargePoint, update the app and try one real session before you trust a holiday week.
The test is not the press release. It is whether your household can leave town with one login and come home without a billing mystery.
